Art in Situ - Part V

Seeing the beautiful spaces where my paintings and prints end up is the cherry on top of everything for me. I don’t always get to see the space where my work lives after it leaves my studio or art fair tent, but it always makes my day when I do.

Thank you to my collectors for sending in these in situ pictures so I can see how the work I pour my heart into brightens your home and your everyday. Already own an original piece? Send me a picture of your painting in its new home to be featured in the next installment of “Art in Situ.” I love to see how you make the work shine in your home.

Here are a few of my favorite in situ images from this year so far.

This lovely Birmingham, AL couple picked out the two “Mountain Halo - Mauve” and “Mountain Halo - Blue” works on the right at the Magic City Arts Connection this April before coming back the next day to add “Rising Dawn” to their collection. Seeing these three paintings arranged harmoniously together makes me all the more grateful that they found their homes together, as if this final placement was meant to be!

(And for sharp-eyed viewers, yes, this image is a little Photoshopped so that the colors of the original paintings are more accurate)

This guest bath was designed around this custom landscape painting of the Pagoda and Oriental Garden in Norfolk, VA by a collector from the Stockley Gardens Fall Arts Festival.

The intricately designed blue wallpaper and the bright red accent color in the guest bath was inspired by the original pagoda, where this collector and her husband got engaged. Scroll down below to see the original custom painting, painted on un-stretched canvas with a custom circular matte.

The subject of this unique custom painting captures the place where this couple was engaged. I even painted the date of their engagement in the sand in the final piece (not pictured here). the style of this commission, with its flat canvas and circular matte was meant to emulate the style of my round prints (like in the ones in the nursery below). I loved the challenge of this unique style and subject matter.

I’m honored to have my work featured so prominently in this sweet Raleigh nursery. Above the crib hangs three of my round 12” x 12” prints, “Timpanogos Alpenglow - Print,” “Blue Ridge Dawn - Print,” and “Sundance Mountain - Print.” Above the bookshelf hangs a custom family portrait, commissioned by the husband as a surprise gift for his wife after her grandparents passed away. This sweet childhood memory can now be passed on to their sweet baby boy, Joah.

This Raleigh collector aptly named this space her “Sunshine Room,” thanks to the warm sunny gold color and the art, books, and more that brighten up this corner.

On the far left is a 16” x 20” framed “Hoping for Raleigh - Print” of her beloved city. In the center is one of my first ever original paintings, “Brighton Blooms,” from when I launched my art business in 2020. On the far right on the bookshelf, a pet portrait of her sweet dog Kona peers through. I love seeing all of my work through the years together in one collection, adding a little more joy and sunshine to your brightest spaces.

These local Winston Salem collectors immortalized their two beloved late cats with these unique pet portraits, placing them as sentimental accents on their beautifully decorated bookshelf. Scroll down for more about these unique commissions.

This matching pair shows their sweet kitties in their favorite places: Tucker in his favorite hydrangea bush and Aspen Rose in her bed with a rose above her ear. This original painting “Sundial Peak Reflections” brings out the cool greens and blues of this room, while a custom blanket of “Wintry Wonderland” brings beauty and peace to the bed.

This Raleigh collector framed her "Roan Mountain Gray Lily - Print” in a gorgeous thick reclaimed wood frame on a bright red accent wall. I love how the vibrant red of this room brings out the vibrancy of the gray lily bloom on this special piece.

This Charlotte collector curated her own gallery wall sleek black, contemporary frames to correspond with her modern black furniture, featuring a new print of her beloved city, “Charlotte Sunflower Moonrise - Print.”

This collector came up with the perfect solution for the empty space above her TV: a print grid. The bold compositions and vibrant colors of these 11” x 14” framed prints, “Pilot Mountain Sunset - Print,” “Sundial Peak Reflections - Print,” and “Mile High Bridge Moonrise - Print” complement each other perfectly in this space.

This local Winston Salem collector has a habit of collecting cityscapes from every place she’s lived. I’m honored to have my cityscape of Winston Salem, “Winston Salem Dusk - Print” represent her time here.

The foyer in this local Winston Salem collector’s home greets her guests with a print of Grandfather Mountain, “Mile High Bridge Moonrise - Print.” These warm colors in the sky add to the warmth and coziness of her welcoming space.

This Raleigh collector scooped up two of my bestselling prints “Misty Blue Ridge - Print” and “Dogwood Dreams” at the 311 Gallery Pop-up market this past holiday season to complete her beautiful, eclectic gallery wall.
