Art In Situ - Part IV
I see my paintings in a lot of lights: from my studio during creation, at art fairs all around the Southeast, and sometimes even in gallery and exhibition spaces. By far and away though, my favorite place to see my work is in your homes.
I love to see how a piece ties together an entire room or harmonizes with your interior design. Thank you for offering me a glimpse into your beautifully curated spaces through these in situ images. It’s such a joy and an honor to see my paintings’ gorgeous new forever homes.
Below are a few of my favorite in situ images from the last six months.
Already own an original piece? Send me a picture of your painting in its new home to be featured in the next installment of “Art in Situ.” I love to see how you make the work shine in your home.
This dreamy piece “Down in the Valley” has been a collector favorite at many of my art fairs this year, but it was a pair of local Winston Salem collectors who happily brought this work home. This work sold at the Sayso & Friends Winter Market in Winston Salem this December and was hung in their home just in time for the holidays. Seeing how perfectly this piece fits in their space, it’s hard to believe it wasn’t tailor made for their home - even down to the matching trees!
This lavender landscape was a special commission created for a Wisconsin collector, capturing her home’s lavender field. I still get misty-eyed when I read this note from the collector after receiving her one-of-a-kind piece:
“I cannot thank you enough for doing this piece for me. My camera does not even do justice for how beautiful this painting is. Thank you again. You have no idea how much this means to me. Your paintings are so unique and your style speaks to me. The bright colors, the personality, I just love your pieces so much. I am so happy I found you on Instagram. I'm currently keeping the painting at my moms since she is very ill. It definitely brightened her day today. You are amazing! Thank you for making me and my mom's day today.”
This sweet piece, “Wild Daffodils” was sold at Art on the Square in Williamsburg, VA. The blue colors in this piece correspond stunningly with the blues in this bedroom, while the bright yellow floral blooms seem to reflect the wash of warm sunlight in this room.
This Rocky Mount collector picked up these four prints at The Arts at Sutherland in Wake Forest this Summer to complete her dining room. The gilded gold frames and clean white mattes framing these prints beautifully complement her sophisticated blend of traditional and modern interior design in this room.
This very special custom landscape was created to outfit this woman’s camper van, commissioned by her daughter. I created this blue ridge landscape to harmonize with the pink of her couch and provide a little “window” to another world. Now, this scene can remind her of home during her travels all across the country (most recently to Alaska!).
This “Cannon Beach - Print” beautifully completes this vertical print row in this Brooklyn, NY home. The limited color palette in this piece complements their modern, black-and-white interior design.
P.S. Recognize this pup? Mookie the Samoyed has her very own custom pet portrait. You might recognize her and her painted double from our first installment of the blog series “Proud Pets and Their Portraits.”
This young collector picked up the perfect accent print for her dorm room at the Festival in the Park in Charlotte, NC. I’ve adored seeing how this beloved print “Barks Office Hit” brings such joy (and often, laughter) to collectors of all ages.
These custom portraits of sweethearts Roxy and Boo are displayed alongside these angel’s ashes, as a moving tribute to their beloved late fur babies. Just this week, I finished painting one more piece for these Williamsburg collectors to complete their trifecta of little fur angels.
This Louisiana collector commissioned this sweet painting of her late Bella and placed her portrait alongside her ashes and her collar. Seeing installations like this one is so bittersweet: I know what it feels like to have lost a beloved fur baby, so I mourn for the collectors, but it’s also reassuring to know that I can bring them some comfort with a sweet, peaceful portrait of the one they miss so dearly.
