Festival in the Park 2023 | Charlotte, NC

Thank you to everyone who came out to this year’s Festival in the Park in Charlotte, NC and showed us once again why it’s one of our favorite events of the year!

This year, we were delighted to get around the same spot as last year with a gorgeous panoramic view of the lake in Freedom Park, surrounded by mighty oaks and weeping willows. The turquoise and teal waters shone bright with reflections of the tents dotting the lakeside and the sunsets were unparalleled.

Check out my Blog from last year’s Festival in the Park for a fun blast to the past.

I’m so grateful to each and every one of you for inviting my work into your homes.

11 original paintings found their homes in the Queen City as well as countless prints, and I heard from so many of you about the works you collected last year and how they continue to brighten up your home and life.

Festival in the Park is one of the only events of our year that goes past dark, so it’s so much fun to see how the tent transforms when lit up at night.

Charlotte’s Festival in the Park is also one of the closest art fairs that we exhibit in, so it feels close to the heart and close to home. We also happened to exhibit alongside our same lovely neighbors as last year and reunite with so many of our art fair exhibiting friends, which always makes this event feel like a homecoming.

This year, Festival in the Park felt like home even more so than usual because my own mother got to exhibit her work alongside me or the first time ever!

She sold five original paintings, countless prints, and even won honorable mention…at her very first art fair!

I couldn’t be more proud of my mom for putting herself and her work out there for the first time ever. Thank you all for embracing her with such open arms and for greeting her work with such kind words, praise, and enthusiasm. It meant more to her (and to me!) than I can express.

I’ve been telling her all my life what an incredibly talented artist she is and what a unique and creative mind she has, and now, I was finally able to prove it to her thanks to you all and your warmth and kindness. It brought tears to my eyes to get to share this moment with her and to get to witness how her work resonated with and inspired people.

I’ll likely dedicate a whole blog to the experience soon. In the meantime though, you can follow her work on Instagram @monicagannonart. Plus, see her work in person alongside mine at this year’s Ardmore Art Walk in Winston Salem, NC (we’re showing side-by-side for the first time ever! Eeee!!!).

So thank you, Charlotte and everyone who attended Festival in the Park, for making me and my work and my mom and her work feel so loved and appreciated.

I’m already eagerly awaiting next year’s Festival in the Park. Until then, check out my Events page to see where I’ll be next!
