Neptune Festival Art Show 2023 | Virginia Beach, VA
I’ve been lucky enough to exhibit in many beautiful places, but the Neptune Festival Art Show in Virginia Beach, VA just might take the cake.
Spending the weekend by the sea, dolphin spotting and sailboat watching feels enough in and of itself. When you add in all of the wonderful connections made and all of the fine art connected with new homes, it makes for a true “pinch me” experience. I still cannot believe that this is a real job. Thank you all for helping make this dream come true.
This weekend, in the shadow of the most epic Neptune statue, we set up our tent right along the boardwalk, with a view of the ocean waves peering through every corner. We were lucky enough to get a corner booth, so we kept one of our walls open, like a doorway to the sea.
From our perch nearby, we spotted dolphins every few hours just off of the surf and watched as sailboats raced right behind the tent in Neptune’s annual regatta competition. Although Friday and Saturday saw overcast skies and cool breezes, Sunday shone bright with blue skies, little white clouds, and sunshine galore.
All of our downtime was spent soaking in the sunshine and sea air, but with the incredible crowds of the Neptune Festival, there wasn’t too much downtime to be had. Throngs of people crowded the boardwalk all weekend, showing up for local art and family-fun activities in a big way.
Most people who passed either didn’t see me at first or didn’t immediately know I was the artist, so I had a chance to see people’s authentic, visceral reactions to my work, and while that might sound intimidating, it was actually quite a delight. Seeing little kids running up and pointing, watching teens gasp out loud, and seeing people of all ages pointing and exclaiming about their favorite pieces made feel more proud of this work than ever.
Every time my work resonates or evokes a response from you all, it warms my heart and feeds my soul. I’m so delighted that four original pieces found their homes here at the beach as well as so many fine art prints.
If you’re still dreaming of a piece you saw, find it in the Shop now or sign up for the Collector’s Club at the link in bio to receive exclusive first access to all new work.
I’ve been busy creating several new works for my next event in two weeks, The Bethesda Row Arts Festival in Bethesda, MD, right outside of DC, so keep an eye out for those new releases soon. Plus, check out my Events page for more details on this event and the rest of the Fall art fair season. I hope to see you somewhere along the way!
