Mother Daughter Dream Team
Let me introduce you to my inspiration in life and art: my momma.
My mom was the one who first taught me how to paint, how to draw, how to hold a paintbrush (starting as early as I have memory). She’s been my lifelong art teacher, artistic mentor, and ultimate cheerleader throughout my life and art career.
She made raising my brother and me her full-time job (and was the best stay-at-home-mom in the universe), and continues to put so much of her energy into believing in our dreams. She’s always prioritized our dreams despite being incredibly talented in her own right.
My parents’ home is overflowing with the brilliant works of art my mom has created throughout the years. It’s always caused me heartache that the world has never seen them.
So this year, it was time to change that.
With the help of my husband and my Dad (and support from afar of my brother), we set up a booth of her work in my parents’ backyard, took pictures, and applied to art fairs on her behalf.
Not only was her work accepted into both art fairs we applied to, but she sold five originals, dozens of prints, and WON AN AWARD at her very first art fair, the Festival in the Park in Charlotte, NC!! (Cue all the happy tears)
To say I’m proud of her would be such an understatement. My whole family has always told her just how brilliant, talented, and creative she is. Thank you all so much for the proof.
Now, at this Saturday’s Ardmore Art Walk my mom and I will get to showcase our respective artwork side by side for the first time ever!
We’ll be sharing a yard at 2211 Rosewood Ave in Winston Salem, NC, so come on out from 11 am-4:30 pm to show a little love for this mother/daughter dream team.
