Magic City Art Connection 2023 | Birmingham, AL
Magic City Art Connection lived up to its name this weekend.
Between the sunny weather, the cool venue, the kind people, and the obvious enthusiasm for original fine art, our first trip to Birmingham, Alabama left us feeling charmed.
10 original paintings found their homes this weekend, and we found a new favorite place to visit in Birmingham.
At Magic City Art Connection, we felt incredibly lucky to have been placed directly across from one of the most stunning views of Sloss Furnaces Historic National Landmark.
The modern, minmalist blue-toned landscapes of my new series’ “Feelin’ Blue” contrasted beautifully with the rustic oranges of this industrial chic venue.
For three full days, we were treated the beautiful view of Sloss Furnaces National Historic Landmark, blue bird skies, the sweetest people, and the best banana pudding popsicles I’ve ever had. For this trip, we brought our pup Zorro in tow and were delighted to see how much fun he had, getting pets from every passerby and getting to sniff every dog that walked by. Now, he’s exhausted and happy, resting up for the excitement of the next time, much like us.
My husband and I had never before visited Birmingham, Alabama and weren’t sure what to expect from the landscape and downtown, so we were blown away when we saw just how mountainous and beautiful the surrounding landscape was and how cool the modern industrial downtown was.
Plus, part of the fun of these long-distance art fair weekends is the opportunity it provides us to take out our Aliner camper. Waking up to birdsong in the trees of Oak Mountain State Park started every day off beautifully.
Thank you, sincerely, to our new Birmingham collectors and to our new art fair friends. We cannot wait for our paths to cross again!
