Our Dream Blue Ridge Mountain Maternity Photos
Counting down the days until we meet our sweet baby BOY this August! 💙
Thank you, Haleigh Nicole Photography, for the Blue Ridge mountain maternity shoot of our dreams! We’ll cherish these photos of our little family for a lifetime.
Whenever I imagined taking maternity photos, I pictured the Blue Ridge Parkway. This spot along the Parkway, Doughton Park, in particular is especially meaningful to me and my husband. Doughton Park is home to a high mountain meadow with gorgeous standalone trees, rock outcroppings, and wild soft pink mountain laurel with a sweeping mountain vista on one side and a sloping meadow with a stunning view of the Blue Ridge mountains on the other side. It’s a landscape that has inspired so many of my landscape paintings, from my earliest mini wildflower paintings to my “Feelin’ Blue” mountain landscape series
I even plein aire painted one of my most popular pieces, “The Mountains Are Calling,” under this very tree. My husband, pup, and I have often sought solace in the cool mountain breeze and shade of this very tree whenever things got a little overwhelming down the mountain. For all of these reasons and more, it felt like the perfect place to capture this special time for our little family.
I was thrilled to find a local photographer, Haleigh Nicole Photography, who not only understood our vision, but was just as excited about it as we were. Haleigh’s photography is beautifully soft and elegant, yet all of her photos seem to have a touch of drama and adventure that was perfect for what we were looking for. More than that though, she and her husband Jack were so relaxed, easygoing, and professional during the shoot that it put me and my husband at total ease. Plus, their willingness and skill at including our beloved little pup Zorro will endear me to them forever.
As an artist myself, I’m all the more appreciative of the time, energy, and skill that goes into a creative business. I see these photos as works of art that my family will cherish for a lifetime, reminding us of all of the love and excitement we felt in anticipation of meeting our baby boy this summer.
